“IBM India has commenced its small-and-medium businesses (SMB) operations at Nashik in Maharashtra for providing innovative IT solutions to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in 14 tier-II cities across the country.

According to a statement issued by the Indian subsidiary of the global IT major, the SMB operations will enable the company to provide better support to its SME clients in non-metros.

ELCOT (Electronics Corporation of Tamilnadu) & NASSCOM Chennai , co-ordinated a campaign to take IT to tier 2 cities in Tamilnadu. Six locations (Hosur, Salem, Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore & Tirunelveli) has been identified to spread the benefits of IT uniformly across the state. This campaign was kicked-off with an Industry - Students meet in the deep south twin cities of Tirunelvi - Palayamkottai on 18th and 19th of Jan 2008.

I came across an article on soft skills training recently and it was a great eye opener. I had been thinking that soft skills was about learning to speak good English and being able to communicate, but it seems to be more than that.
