“IBM India has commenced its small-and-medium businesses (SMB) operations at Nashik in Maharashtra for providing innovative IT solutions to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in 14 tier-II cities across the country.
According to a statement issued by the Indian subsidiary of the global IT major, the SMB operations will enable the company to provide better support to its SME clients in non-metros.
To extend its presence in 14 tier-II cities, the company has till date set up SMB divisions in Bhopal, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Goa (Panjim), Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Lucknow, Nagpur and Vizag. It plans to cover Surat, Bhubaneswar, Madurai and Ludhiana by this year-end….”

It’s interesting to note that so called MNCs have identified the small town talent in India sooner than our own companies. I hope more global companies take a cue from IBM’s model and give us a chance at good jobs and improved lifestyle.
However it is also our responsibility to improve ourselves to be ready for this change, improve our language skills and show initiative to progress
